Welcome to the official site of the Kenya Association of Sea Anglers (KASA) where you can find information on where to fish, who to fish with and what you might hope to catch.

Kenya is situated on the East coast of Africa on the equator with a coastline of some 600km sandwiched between Tanzania in the south and Somalia to the north. Kenya is well serviced by the major airlines and is a popular destination with its excellent and well defined tourism industry, including world class fishing. Use the "Where to Fish" page to learn more about each location as to who to fish with, what you might catch, where to stay and other interesting features.

KASA is the governing body for saltwater sports fishing in Kenya and a member of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), the world's governing body for sport fishing. KASA is the angler's voice with the Kenya Government on all issues affecting the sport including legislation, fisheries and environmental issues.

Kenya saltwater angling "records" have been maintained by KASA since the 1960's shown here for ease of reference as well as how to go about applying for a record catch. "Catch statistics" as well as logs for the top marlin, sailfish and swordfish boats are also shown.

KASA has also defined the standards by which all charter boats registered with the association are expected to adhere in the form of a "code-of-conduct". However, visitors should be aware that not all boats offered for charter in Kenya are members of KASA and hence are not bound by the association's regulations.

Kenya has a well established "tournament" calendar most of which have an emphathis on both billfish and conservation.

The conservation of billfishes is a very important aspect of Kenya's sport fishery and these days this has been extended to sharks and giant trevally as well. Kenya's "tag and release" programme for billfish began around 1987 and more than 30,000 billfishes have since been tagged. Tags used are mostly from Kenya's own African Billfish Foundation as well as from The Billfish Foundation.

Regularly updated fishing "newsletters" are provided by KASA members including by David Slater, Kingfisher and Simon Hemphill and may be viewed here.

KASA thanks Captain Andy's for sponsoring this website.
